Connecting to your PLC
The software needs a physical connection to the controller, and the right one differs between the two PLC generations.
For SIMATIC S5: the IBH USB-S5-Adaptor for working at the panel with a modern laptop, the IBH Link S5++ to put the PLC on your network over TCP/IP, or the IBH S5 Current Loop Converter for a PC with a true serial port.
For SIMATIC S7-300 and S7-400: the USB-S7 Adaptor MPI, DP, PPI for direct MPI access, the IBH Link S7++ Ethernet to PROFIBUS gateway, or the IBH Link S7++ HS in a DIN rail mount housing for permanent cabinet installation.
Without the AI copilot
The same programming and engineering system is available on its own as S5/S7 for Windows®, covering both PLC generations without the copilot.
