IBH USB-S5-Adapter
The IBH USB-S5-Adaptor connects a PC USB port to the 15 pin AS511 programming port of a SIMATIC S5 PLC. The 15 pin connector housing is solid metal and holds the complete electronics, and the adapter draws its power from the PC's USB port.
Active cable, no constant current adapter needed
This is an active cable. It requires no power from the PLC programming port, so a constant current adaptor is not needed.
Software and driver support
The IBH USB-S5-Adaptor can be used with S5 for Windows®, the IBH OPC Server, and STEP 5 V7.16 or higher. Drivers for Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 are included.

Other ways to connect to an S5 PLC
The IBH USB-S5-Adapter is the straightforward choice for working at the panel with a modern laptop. Two alternatives cover different situations:
- IBH Link S5++ – an Ethernet converter that puts the S5 PLC on your network over standard TCP/IP. Choose this for remote maintenance through a router or VPN, or when S7 HMI devices need to read and write S5 variables.
- IBH S5 Current Loop Converter – the serial option, for a PC that still has a true COM port and where the PLC supplies the 20 mA loop current.
