How to configure a VIPA HMI as a Profibus-DP Slave?
Printers are supported from VIPA Touch Panels via USB connection. Additionally, the printer supports either the printer command language HP PLC level 3-6 or there is a CE driver for the printer.
? As zenOn does not have any Profibus DP driver, it is necessary to connect via MPI driver. This could be easily done by adjusting the baud rate of the MPI driver to the speed of the Profibus DP. A project engineering in the hardware manager of the Simatic manager is not possible and not necessary. The used address could not be used twice for further project engineering.
Using USB/MPI adapter from VIPA: Under "Configuration PG/PC interface" in the Simatic manager, the PC adapter has to be configured, also under features the right Com interface and baud rate have to be configured.
If the CC03 loses its OP-project after a re-start in most of the cases the accumulator / battery is empty. The reason is that the OP project is stored in RAM. If the battery is empty, the RAM cannot be buffered any longer, with the result that the OP project gets lost. The OP-project must be transferred again to the CC03.
Depending on whether CE CORE or Professional is installed; there are two possibilities how to configure a network printer.
The right communication driver is the "VIPA-Embedded-MPI"-driver.
You can find it here: Real Time DB -> Comm.Drivers -> (right mouse click) -> Add New Comm.Driver... -> open the "VIPA" folder in the list -> mark the "VIPA Embedded MPI" communication driver
Only the MPI address of the controller and the touch panel have to be set in the driver attributes.
NOTE: The communication driver "S7-MPI PC Adapter" is only needed in combination with the VIPA Green cable. For a standard MPI-communication this driver is not suitable.
A VIPA USB/MPI adapter can be used to transfer a ProTool project to a VIPA OP03. Select PC-Adapter as the PG/PC Interface
This How-To article covers how to configure a VIPA CC03 HMI in Step 7 SIMATIC Manager.

Note: ECO HMIs require the purchase of the 961-0MP0 MPI/DP adapter in order to be configured as a Profibus-DP Slave.
