PROFIBUS DP Redundancy Switch PRS
The PROFIBUS DP redundancy switch offers the solution for a safe redundancy system. It provides the switching over of the PROFIBUS line between 2 identical DP masters.
This avoids any galvanic contact between the DP masters and can therefore be configured with an identical PROFIBUS address, making the multi-master-mode unnecessary and excludes double address conflicts.
The PRS concept avoids all disadvantages of current redundancy solutions. The PRS can even be used in very complex redundancy systems, incl. PROFIBUS OPC servers or overlying Ethernet networks.
The PRS as the master-to-slave communication would in case of a device failure not interrupt the operations.
This is the single most cost effective solution in the redundancy market in connection with a VIPA SLIO PROFIBUS master controller for less then $5000.
